The Avs can't even win a game against the worst team in the NHL!!!!! I thought with the Islanders captain Bill Guerin sitting out and Yann Danis in goal, a back up with a losing record; the Avs would get a good chance to at least finish off a horrible road trip with a victory. I was wrong! Leave it to the Avs to make bad teams look good. At this point, I think they're just trying to be nice to the other players and help them out. They gave up a goal to Jesse Joensuu, his first NHL game, good for him! Bruno Gervais got one too, first time in 161 games; he must have slept like a baby last night. Let's not forget that the Avs were kind enough to give Brodeur a shutout in his game back from missing 50. It looked like the only one that really showed up last night was Ryan Smyth, I guess that Milan Hejduk played a nice game too, but that's about it. I wasn't too crazy about the lines Granato came up with either. I don't know why he doesn't keep Chris Stewart on the top two lines, he's got a lot of potential but it's really hard for him to get some good scoring opportunities when you're on a line with McCormik and Hensick. As for the goaltending situation, it's pretty obvious we have some big problems in that department. I do think that Raycroft should finish out the season because I've got zero confidence in Budaj at this point. After that showing he had in New-York, they should keep that seat for back ups warm just for him. If they do put him back in a game and he screws up again, even if it's in the first period, Granato should pull him and put an extra player on the ice to make the point that the Avs have the same chance of wining with him in goal or no goalie at all! The trade dead line is tomorrow, let's hope that the Avs make something happen, because this is getting out of control.
