Colorado 14ers Win D-League Championship at Home

The sometimes Denver Nuggets player, Sonny Weems scored 25 points to lead the Colorado 14ers past the Utah Flash 123-104 in the NBA Development League championship game Friday night at the Broomfield Event Center. The home crowd couldn't have been happier!
Joe Dabbert and Josh Davis chipped in 21 points each for the 14ers. Eddie Gill was his usual self, playing hard and getting it done. But the Flash were giving the 14ers a run for the money, leading 59-52 at halftime. But after a close three quarters, Colorado got fired up and outscored Utah 35-18 in the fourth. John Lucas scored 13 points in the final quarter, leading the team to an eventual 20 point margin during the last minutes of the game. The 14ers were on their way to their first D-League championship.
The 14ers defeated the Erie BayHawks in the first round of a do-or-die, one and out playoff format before moving on to another one-and-done round against the Austin Toros in the semifinals.
The championship was a best of three format with the 14ers winning in a sweep, beating the Flash 136-131 in overtime in the first game.
The fans ready to rush the court...
